Back in 1997, Ferrari and Shell released a stunning commercial shot in the Mojave Desert in southeastern California, featuring a Formula 1 car being refueled by a Shell airplane. Fast forward to 2011 and BMW USA has remade the famous ad, albeit in a slightly different manner. This time we have a 5-Series BMW rolling down a straight empty road while being approached by an airplane throwing a refueling hose towards the car. Named “Refuel”, the ad highlights BMW 5-Series' fuel-efficiency and ends with the Bavarian brand’s renowned advertising slogan “The Ultimate Driving Machine” instead of the more recent, but unemotional, “Joy” tag-line.
